By default, IIS is not installed on Server 2008 R2.  You can install IIS by using the Add Roles wizard in Server Manager.

  • Open Server Manager.
  • In Roles Summary, click Add Roles.
  • The Add Roles Wizard opens.  At the Before You Begin screen, click Next.
  • Select Web Server (IIS), then click Next.

  • Click Next at the Web Server (IIS) screen.
  • When you use the Add Roles Wizard, IIS will be installed with the default installation.  If you need additional IIS role services, be sure to select the check boxes associated with those features.
  • Select any other Role Services that are required, and then click Next.
  • At the Confirm Installation Selections screen, click Install.
  • After the install completes, click Close.
